The Dahal-Nepal faction of the CPN (Maoist) has suspended eight people, including Chief Minister of State 1 Sherdhan Rai, for three months.

The suspension letter signed by Dahal-Nepal group parliamentary party leader Bhim Prasad Acharya alleges that they are involved in activities against the interests of the party and the government. The group has suspended Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Hikmat Kumar Karki, Minister of State for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives Ram Bahadur Magar, Minister of State for Physical Infrastructure Development Ambir Babu Gurung, Chief Whip Buddhi Kumar Rajbhandari, State Assembly members Indra Mani Parajuli, Ambika Thapa and Vimal Karki. He has been suspended from participating in any activity of the state assembly. It is mentioned in the letter that the CPN (Maoist) has been suspended for three months as per the constitution of the parliamentary party. The Dahal-Nepal group has registered them in the Bodhartha Provincial Assembly Secretariat. The group has informed that suspension letters have been sent to the eight suspended persons by post and courier. Earlier, the Dahal-Nepal faction had removed Chief Minister Rai from the leadership of the parliamentary party and elected Bhim Prasad Acharya. The group said they were suspended for not attending the next meeting and for not seeking clarification.

The Dahal-Nepal faction has filed a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Rai on December 27. A no-confidence motion has been filed against Rai with the signatures of 37 out of 67 CPN (Maoist) state assembly members.
